In the Austin Auditorium at 7:00 pm March 20th the Annual Battle of the Sexes will be taking place. This is a fundraiser for post prom so the cost to get in is $3 for adults and $2 for students. There will be a pie auction and a shoot out at half-time for $1 per try. Chance to win a Gatorade or PowerAde. Come and watch your Irrigator Basketball players and coaches compete!
Join us for our annual Good Friday Service presented by the combined churches of the Newell Assembly of God and Newell Christian Fellowship churches. Our service this year will be held at Newell Christian Fellowship Friday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m. We are located at the corner of Elmira Avenue and 4th Street. Refreshments will be served following. The combined choirs of the two churches will perform as well as a message presented by Pastor Nathan Keller of the Newell Assembly of God. March 15th began with the annual Community Club Easter Egg Hunt.
Lunch, fun and games provided by the Newell Horizons group.
Ending with roller skating sponsored by the local Cub Scout Pack at City Hall.
Proving that with three local groups cooperating and supporting each others events really is three times the fun!!!

On Monday the 17th at Newell City Hall the local Board of Equalization will meet to hear appeals.
Tonight from 4-7pm in the MPR at the Newell Schools the GBB & BBB will have a “Potato Bar”, cost is $5 a person. Come and support your Irrigators!
You’ll be missing out if you don’t stop by the school at 11am on Saturday for the annual Community Club Easter Egg Hunt open to children 0-9 years of age. Afterwards stop at the NVN Center for a meal sponsored by Newell Horizons along with fun games and give aways. The Boy Scouts are sponsoring roller skating next door at City Hall that afternoon - so make a day of it with your family in Newell!
The Valley Irrigator recently put on an indoor garage sale in Newell, with all proceeds from booth rentals being donated to the Newell Horizons group!
Horizons members also ran a concession stand during the event.
On Friday March 14 starting at 9am Liz Diers will be available at the NVN Center to help with tax prep! To get your stimulus payment you must file your 2007 taxes.
Come join our community blood drive in Newell on Tuesday, March 25 at the NVN Senior Center sponsored by the NVN Ministerial Association. Sign up to donate at your local church or by calling 456-2544 or email janicarney@hotmail.com. Sign up early to get the time that works best for you. At 5pm and 7pm at the Newell Public Library Horizons members will be on hand to teach you how to use the Newell blog. From setting up a free email account, basic web navigation to commenting and even posting your own blogs entries! It’s free, daycare and transportation are available if needed. So stop on by!
I’ve taken a few photos of things about town - these things can be clearly seen from a public street or public place - be the first to name what or where they are and be the Champion of Observation for the week! The Butte County Historical Society is putting on their annual program at 7pm on Saturday the 23rd at Newell City Hall. Several longtime area families will be spotlighted, the event is open to anyone interested.
Tonight the Newell Lady ‘Gators will be taking on St. Thomas More once again - at the Civic Center in RC.
Cheer on the team as they are on the road to State!

Newell’s own Jacque Lee will be airing on FOX tv Tuesday night during the News. Make sure to log on to their website (link below), watch her video and rate her performance -the contestant with the highest rating will go on to compete for a $2,500 Scholarship in May.
This past weekend the Newell Lady Irrigators took first place in the West River Tourney! The NHS Boys Team also took first to win the WRT this year!

Newell High School Student Council will be putting on a Indian Taco Feed on Saturday, February 16th from 11am-7pm in the Multi-Purpose Room at Newell School. The funds raised will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Make sure you make it down to Newell City Hall on Thursday, as the annual Field and Home Happenings will be taking place. Community Club is sponsoring a free lunch, there will be musical entertainment, various booths, and demonstrations or enter your craft in an open class and win a prize!
Newell Horizons was set to hold two blog training sessions this evening at the Newell Public Library, but due to snow and blowing snow advisories and all around nasty winter weather the sessions have been postponed until March 3rd. If you know someone that planned to attend, let them know it’d been re-scheduled. Thanks for your patience and we hope to see you on the 3rd!!!

Due to lack of a quorum last night (apparently -20 wind chills made folks want to stay indoors - haha) the regular PTO meeting could not happen. President Parrow has rescheduled the meeting for February 4th at 7pm in the Multi-Purpose Room at Newell School. She says they’ve got lots on the agenda, so stop by and take part in Newell’s Parent Teacher Organization!
There are no dues to join, everyone is welcome to attend.
Four School Boards seats are up for election this year. Starting March 1st interested individuals may obtain a petition from the Newell Schools Business Office, petitions MUST be returned by March 25th at 4pm.
