Battle of the Sexes

In the Austin Auditorium at 7:00 pm  March 20th the Annual Battle of the Sexes will be taking place. This is a fundraiser for post prom so the cost to get in is $3 for adults and $2 for students. There will be a pie auction and a shoot out at half-time for $1 per try. Chance to win a Gatorade or PowerAde. Come and watch your Irrigator Basketball players and coaches compete!

Good Friday Service

Good Friday Cross Join us for our annual Good Friday Service presented by the combined churches of the Newell Assembly of God and Newell Christian Fellowship churches.  Our service this year will be held at Newell Christian Fellowship Friday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m.  We are located at the corner of Elmira Avenue and 4th Street.  Refreshments will be served following.   The combined choirs of the two churches will perform as well as a message presented by Pastor Nathan Keller of the Newell Assembly of God.

Community Day a group effort

March 15th began with the annual Community Club Easter Egg Hunt.

Ending with roller skating sponsored by the local Cub Scout Pack at City Hall.

Board of Equalization to meet

Today is the last day to submit a written appeal to the recent assessments. Contact the FO for additional info (456-2737).

On Monday the 17th at Newell City Hall the local Board of Equalization will meet to hear appeals.

Potato’s and fixin’s

Horizons & Community Club Present

You’ll be missing out if you don’t stop by the school at 11am on Saturday for the annual Community Club Easter Egg Hunt open to children 0-9 years of age. Afterwards stop at the NVN Center for a meal sponsored by Newell Horizons along with fun games and give aways. The Boy Scouts are sponsoring roller skating next door at City Hall that afternoon - so make a day of it with your family in Newell!

The Valley Irrigator recently put on an indoor garage sale in Newell, with all proceeds from booth rentals being donated to the Newell Horizons group!

Horizons members also ran a concession stand during the event.

Spring Production Try-Outs

Try-Outs for the Spring Production, Night of the Living Beauty Pageant, will be on Thursday, 6th.  Come to Mrs. Heck’s classroom before school at 7:45 or after school at 3:45.  If you need a script or have any questions, please talk to Mrs. Heck. The last Production was a blast!

Taco Feed

Newell High School Student Council will be putting on a Indian Taco Feed on Saturday, February 16th from 11am-7pm in the Multi-Purpose Room at Newell School. The funds raised will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Field & Home Show

Make sure you make it down to Newell City Hall on Thursday, as the annual Field and Home Happenings will be taking place. Community Club is sponsoring a free lunch, there will be musical entertainment, various booths, and demonstrations or enter your craft in an open class and win a prize!

 BlogFest (training) postponed!!!

Newell Horizons was set to hold two blog training sessions this evening at the Newell Public Library, but due to snow and blowing snow advisories and all around nasty winter weather the sessions have been postponed until March 3rd. If you know someone that planned to attend, let them know it’d been re-scheduled. Thanks for your patience and we hope to see you on the 3rd!!!

PTO Meeting rescheduled

Due to lack of a quorum last night (apparently -20 wind chills made folks want to stay indoors - haha) the regular PTO meeting could not happen. President Parrow has rescheduled the meeting for February 4th at 7pm in the Multi-Purpose Room at Newell School. She says they’ve got lots on the agenda, so stop by and take part in Newell’s Parent Teacher Organization!

There are no dues to join, everyone is welcome to attend.

School Board Seats Open

Four School Boards seats are up for election this year. Starting March 1st interested individuals may obtain a petition from the Newell Schools Business Office, petitions MUST be returned by March 25th at 4pm.
