Register

December 27th, 2007 by heatherk

On the right tool bar a short explaination of how to register has been added. Remember to qualify for our community laptop we’ll need at least 5 registered users who are actively participating in the blog (commenting and/or posting). This is one area we still need to continue to work on. So take the time to officially register, then come back login and start blogging!!! From what I understand we could get the laptop as early as February if we meeting the requirements!

I like the idea of including this on the blog site. Can you share ways on how you got the word out to people to go to the site to register?

The Horizons group was really good at word of mouth, just letting everyone know how important and beneficial it is to blog. A section on blogging was added to theNewell Strategic Plan that’s been printed and handed out. Great local newspaper coverage helps, and Carolyn had business cards with blog info printed up and left at local businesses and high traffic areas in town (handy and easily grabbed to take home and read). I probably left out some stuff - anyone else remember things I’ve missed?

I kind of think that one of the best ways of getting more folks on here is simply hearing others say, “I read it on the blog” that alone really draws new folks in. My favorite comment I’ve heard about it is that “it’s like having a daily newspaper”, I hope we all can continue to make it better.

I do want to clarify the comment about getting the laptop as early as February. February will be our “checkpoint” to see if you have made significant progress toward the laptops. But February is when we would likely be ordering the equipment, since it takes a while to go through the University purchasing process. But equipment would probably not be delivered until more toward the end of the Horizons grant–and we must continue to see communities meeting the requirements through the end as well.
