Remember those “FUN” pre and post surveys that the Horizons Staff had you take during Study Circles and LeadershipPLENTY?
Believe it or not - it was for a purpose! Those pre and post surveys help us to understand how much your community learned about poverty and about leadership by your participation in those specified curriculums.
As a result, we have assembled a community profile with the results of the pre and post surveys for both Study Circles and LeadershipPLENTY. Check out your community results by clicking on the links found under “Survey Data” on the right hand side of your community blog.

If you’re ever in need, or know someone that could use a little help - the Newell Food Pantry is open on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each
month from 1-4pm, it’s housed in the NVN Center. They have a wide variety of canned goods, non-perishables and frozen meat (mostly antelope and venison donated by hunters and packaged by Tri-County Lockers). If you aren’t in need, but would instead like to donate - bring by your donation while it’s open, or contact Pastor Nathan Keller. He said if you need food and can’t make it during the regular hours, give him a call and he’ll let you in!

On the right hand side of the site under Blogroll are links to other Horizons Communities in SD. Click on a few and take a look at the fun events, new ideas, and great accomplishments other towns are promoting and completing. Remember part of earning our new technology (digital camera, printer, and hopefully a laptop) is connecting with other blog sites. So take a look at what they have to offer - they need your comments too, and we might learn a little something also!

Newell Horizons organized another successful clean up day on November 3rd. Countless loads of junk were hauled to the City Rubble Site on volunteers trailers, pick up beds, and dump trucks. Truely a community effort was seen - the Mayor, local business owners, Pastors, residents, country folks, teachers… even teenagers and children pitched in to bring Newell that much closer to a sparkly clean future. Pulling together to get things done - that’s Newell community unity at work - job well done Horizons members!

The shelter in the North City Park is becoming a reality! If you’ve taken a stroll on the walking path in the past few days you might have noticed the dirt work, and now poles are set! Last night Community Club showed thier support of the project by donating $200 towards nuts, bolts and other necessities needed.
